These are the terms for booking a course with Common Knowledge. Sections 1 to 7 are the same terms we use on our main booking system. Sections 8 to 11 cover what is new on this booking site: the booking fee, paying in three, age and your information.
1. OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
Please ensure you have read and fully understood these terms and conditions before booking. Your booking will be confirmed following payment, your agreement with these terms and conditions, and completion of the registration details you give when you book. We reserve the right to refuse a booking to any party or individual at our sole discretion.
2. CANCELLATION & COURSE CHANGES
As a non-profit social enterprise, we hope you will appreciate that we need to have a reasonable but strict change and cancellation policies to ensure our sustainability.
Whilst we understand that life can be full of surprises, following your booking will have committed significant time and resource to planning and delivering a great learning experience for you. Changes and cancellations also create pressure for our small team in terms of administration and filling bookings to avoid a loss at short notice. Therefore, unless otherwise stated, the following refund rates apply to all cancellations and changes:
- Up to 28 days prior to the course: Refund of 75% for any course fee or change fee of €150 (€75 for short courses) to move to another course.
- From 28-14 days prior to course commencement, we will provide a refund of 50% of the course fee. No date change is available.
- Less than 14 days prior to course commencement, you will not receive a refund and cannot be changed. Thank you for your understanding.
To cancel or change your booking, please contact info@ourcommonknowledge.org. All refunds will be made within 5 working days and exclude booking fees, we will have already paid to our payment processor when you book.
3. COURSE CONTENT
Our courses operate both indoors and outdoors and so are at the mercy of the weather and other unforeseeable events. Whilst every effort is made to deal with such variables, there may be occasions when, through no fault of ours, changes to the course content and itinerary have to be made. In such circumstances we will not be liable for any losses incurred by you or persons under your control.
4. COURSE CONDUCT
You are expected to conduct yourself in a reasonable manner at all times and to comply with our reasonable instructions and we reserve the right to remove any person from a course at our absolute discretion. Circumstances in which this might occur include (without limitation) disorderly or abusive conduct, intoxication, or inadequacy of clothing or equipment or respect for others. In such circumstances you will not be entitled to any refund and we will not be liable for any losses so resulting. Smoking is not permitted when taking part in any group activity.
5. LIABILITY
Our courses take place in an outdoor setting and are by their nature not completely free from hazard. While all reasonable precautions are taken to minimise the risks to attendees (including persons under their control or on-site at their invitation), you must accept that accidents, including serious injury and death, can occur without us being at fault. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you release, waive and discharge us to the fullest extent permitted by law from any liability for death or personal injury (save to the extent that such is the direct result of our negligence), and loss or damage to personal property including vehicles, money, clothing, or equipment. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, you assume sole responsibility for any and all risks associated with participating in the course, including any loss or injury resulting from a failure to follow instructions or resulting from instructions or information relayed to you by anyone other than us.
6. IMAGERY
Whilst taking part in the course, you may be photographed and/or filmed by our team. By accepting these terms and conditions, you agree to participate in the photography/filming project detailed herein and hereby consent to the capture of your image in photographs/footage by Common Knowledge. You understand that your participation is voluntary and that you may withdraw your consent to be photographed/filmed at any time prior to the photography/filming. You further understand that, subsequently, Common Knowledge may process (or authorise the processing of) photographs and recorded footage for educational and/or marketing purposes in accordance with our mission and legitimate interests. We are committed to processing personal information in accordance with all applicable data protection laws and will ensure that the rights and interests of data subjects are weighted appropriately.
7. COVID SAFETY
A summary of our Covid Safety policy, including our approach to course non-attendance due to covid risks, is outlined at this link: https://www.ourcommonknowledge.org/covid-safety
Please note that in the interests of everyone’s health and safety, this policy will supercede all other terms and conditions.
8. BOOKING FEE
Every place carries a booking fee, shown on the course page before you book (for example €15 on Build School). It covers our card and booking costs and, as section 2 says, it is not refunded.
9. PAYING IN THREE
Where a course offers it and you book 3 months or more before it starts, you can pay in three: a third when you book (plus the booking fee), a third eight weeks before the course and the last third four weeks before. The later payments are taken automatically from the card you booked with, and there is no extra charge for paying this way. We email you a few days before each payment, and you can pay the rest early from your account at any time.
Bookings paid in three are non-refundable. You can pass your place to someone else at any time: email info@ourcommonknowledge.org with their name and email address.
If a payment does not go through, we email you and try again each day for five days. If it is still unpaid after that, we will write to you with a final date to pay. If it is not paid by then, we may release your place, and the payments already made are not refunded.
10. AGE
Our courses are for adults aged 18 and over. Someone aged 16 to 18 is welcome if an adult who is also booked on the course comes with them.
11. YOUR INFORMATION
All the food we serve is vegetarian. When you book we ask for the name and email address of the person coming, an emergency contact and, if you choose, about severe allergies and access needs, so we can look after you. We only hold that health information if you tick the consent box next to those questions, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. If you pay in three, we create an account for you so you can see your booking and payments; you can ask us to close it at any time. How we look after your information is set out in our privacy policy.
